Kalimantani by KalahariFox Kalimantani by KalahariFox
Kalimantani the striped hyena (Hyaena hyaena). I wanted to use this drawing as practice of strong colored lighting, but as it developed and took on it's own 'mood', it became more an opportunity to just practice shadowing. The background is watercolor paint applied with a wet-on-wet technique, followed by a light sprinkling of kosher salt for added flavor. The hyena girl herself is mostly Copic marker except for the goldenrod color that makes up the foundation for her yellowish fur (this was a Prismacolor marker). With every drawing, I learn that there's so much... to learn!

I like the expression she has, kind of cute and mischevious at the same time

Ditto what everyone else said on coloring. I love how you always make strong, independent women. It is fun parsing out the type of universe you've created. Love your work.

Very nice, that background is amazing. I'm pissed at myself for missing the stream, but I'll catcha next time.
Oh, and I'm digging that outfit ;)
